Who will be there to celebrate?

Wednesday evening...  8pm...  game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals..  Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canuks... 

New Englanders are HUGE sports fanatics...  and rightly so, we have some of the best teams.. the Patriots, the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins..   So you can imagine the excitement surrounding game 7 of the finals.   I went to Patriots Place with a few friends to see the end of the game..  we get there at the beginning of the third period.. by this point the Bruins are way ahead and the Canuks have no chance of winning this game.  You should have seen it, people were outside in the grass watching the jumbo-tron, the CBS Scene bar (2 floors, tv screens everywhere you look) was packed and standing room only, everyone was buzzing because we were about to win the cup this year (39 years ago was the Bruins last cup win).

  I was just enjoying being part of this rowdy crowd with my friends.   Count down begins.. 10, 9, 8, 7......  AHHHHHHHH WOOOOO!!!  You should have seen this place..  everyone screaming and cheering because the Bruins just won the Stanley Cup. There was a lot of bromance involved in a span of 10 minutes.  Bruins' captain Zdeno Chara is the first to receive the trophy and holds it high... 

The place went nuts... it was in the moment that I started thinking about our own successes...  Who is there to celebrate with us and cheer for us?  Think about some of the biggest moments of your life..  graduation, marriage, having a child, getting that job you wanted...  Something you worked really hard for and it finally paid off...  Sports victories can be so huge with millions of people watching and cheering but in our everyday lives our victories (big or small) have the tendency to go unnoticed and aren't as well recognized.  Are our priorities so skewed that we put so much emphasis on sports and entertainment that we forget about more important things in life (please don't get me wrong, you know I love sports just as much as anyone!)?  But, it leads me to ask you - Who can you celebrate and encourage today for playing a role in life that isn't as well recognized?
